This job is a member of the Payments and Digital Strategy Team within the American Airlines Credit Union. The role is responsible for identifying and managing risk for all of the Credit Union's deposit risk channels, online transactions, ACH and wires, and the administration of Business ACH origination functions.

What you'll do

  • Develop logical recommendations related to reporting, process improvements, Policy & Procedure refinements, maintaining compliance with applicable rules and regulations, including identifying/implementing solutions to newly-introduced NACHA rules
  • Identify, assess, and partner with Payments leadership and other areas of the credit union to mitigate risk across ACH, wires, deposit channels and online banking originated transactions
  • Analyze and assess impact of the on-going changes with the Federal Reserve’s Faster Payments initiatives and amendments to the NACHA rules
  • Validate and reconcile the interbank fee received on same-day ACH transactions
  • Answer ACH regulatory or operational questions for the team or management
  • Assist with Fraud and Compliance issues as well as preparing for and assisting with the Annual ACH/Wire Audit and Annual Vendor Due Diligence Financial documents
  • Provide back-up support for the Checking/Payments Processing Supervisor and the Payments Processing Analyst, including the daily reconciliation of Payments Processing general ledger suspense accounts and correcting ACH outages on the Federal Reserve Bank account
  • Analyze and assess impacts and seize opportunities to monetize Same Day ACH for the organization
  • Manage online banking external account and online transaction fraud control by using tools provided and reviewing and continually assessing risk related to external account transfers, domestic wire and corporate ACH files originated via the Online Banking platform
  • Identify process improvements to ensure the ACH exception volume is maintained at a manageable level regardless of transaction volumes or advances in digital banking payment options
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • The selected candidate will be responsible for ensuring the security and confidentiality of all account and related information which is part of their work and for ensuring that his/her work is in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations including, but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent

Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business
  • Previous banking or Credit Union experience
  • Experience in Payments Processing areas such as ACH/Share drafts exception processing, online and mobile payments including Bill Pay
  • Accredited ACH Professional (AAP) Designation

Skills, Licenses & Certifications

  • Skilled in Microsoft Office software (e.g., Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) gained through either work experience with the software or education and hands-on use of the software
  • Skilled in Profitstars ACH applications, Symitar's Epysis, Q2eBanking, Ensenta, Compass and Partnercare
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent analytical skills with the ability to research and analyze data with little guidance
  • Ability to work well independently as well as in a team environment under tight deadlines and high-volume pressure with minimal supervision
  • Ability to be self-directed and comfortable with accepting ownership, responsibility and accountability of functional obligations
  • Ability to self-motivate with strong organization skills, capacity for attention to detail and high level of accuracy
  • Ability to effectively prioritize work and meet deadlines
  • Ability to maintain satisfactory performance and attendance
  • Ability to pass applicable American Airlines and Credit Union pre-hire compliance checks
