Job Title: International Accountant                                          Level/ Work Group: 1

Reports to: International Accounting Manager                        Direct Reports: None

Locations: Dublin Airport,  Ireland                                           Hours: 37.5 per week  

 

 

Role Summary

 

Payroll - Responsible for assisting with the timely and accurate processing of payroll

Disbursements - Responsible for assisting with the timely and accurate processing of disbursements

Tax Filings/Payments - Responsible for assisting with the timely and accurate processing of income and ticket tax filings and payments

General Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for assisting with general accounting activities as assigned by the accounting manager
  • Miscellaneous ad hoc projects assigned by department management

 

 

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

 

Payroll Responsibilities

  • Validate payroll data collection and prepare summary files
  • Review contracts and apply processing requirements to specialized workforce groups, such as unions
  • Review payroll reports for processing errors
  • Communicate discrepancies to the accounting manager and/or department timekeepers as necessary
  • Research employee payroll questions

 

Disbursement Responsibilities

  • Audit and process invoices and payments
  • Audit and process employee expense reports
  • Audit all vendor information before establishment
  • Work with internal and external customers to resolve issues

 

Tax filings/payments

  • Generate supporting schedules for ticket and income tax  filings
  • Prepare VAT filing

 

General Responsibilities

  • Perform bank and balance sheet account reconciliations
  • Perform a variety of other functions/ad hoc projects as assigned
  • Maintain compliance with accounting/auditing policies and procedures and local laws/regulations

 

Other

  • Take reasonable care of the health and safety of self, as well as the safety of others who may be affected by his/her acts or omissions.  To co-operate with AA as far as is necessary to enable AA to comply with all relevant statutory provisions. To immediately report serious risks or concerns over safety issues

Person Specification

 

Essential

  • University degree with a focus in accounting or equivalent education/experience
  • At least 2 year of experience in a related accounting field
  • Knowledge of accounting theory, internal control principles, and financial reporting
  • Experience with international business practices, tax and labor laws
  • Commitment to high standards, integrity and ethics
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously; meeting reporting deadlines with a sense of urgency
  • Must possess critical thinking skills as well as being a strategic thinker
  • Ability to handle issues involving sensitivity, confidentiality, and legal exposure
  • Excellent organizational, verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated excellent qualitative and quantitative analytical skills
  • Proficient with PC and Microsoft Office software (e.g., Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint)
  • Adaptable to change
  • Self-motivated and have a positive hands-on approach
  • Ability to work flexible hours when needed
  • Fluent in verbal and written English

 

Desirable

  • ACCA,  CPA, MBA, or equivalent education/certification
  • Demonstrated knowledge of airline accounting practices
  • Demonstrated knowledge of SAP
  • Ability to speak additional languages relevant for the countries of responsibility
