Job Description

The aa.com mobile devices Analyst/Product Manager is responsible for defining and creating the AA customer experience on mobile devices (mobile app, mobile web, and notifications) with the objectives of increasing revenue, increasing self-service calls, and deepening customer loyalty. The Analyst/Product Manager will achieve these goals by leveraging technical and project management expertise to spearhead the product development process as an Agile Product Owner.

 

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

  • Responsible for all aspects of product ownership in a fast-paced, Agile development environment.
  • Manage the development and implementation of new products/enhancements, including evaluation, scoping and execution.
  • Utilize site analytics data to prioritize functionality development and project releases.
  • Conduct competitive benchmarking to research new technologies, identify functionality gaps, and discover opportunities to enhance the customer experience.
  • Become the subject matter expert for assigned area of responsibility.
  • Assist the mobile strategy team with roadmap prioritization and reporting for your product.
  • Analyze and interpret data to provide sound commercial observations and recommendations.
  • Work with the Usability and Design team to manage deliverables and ensure cohesiveness between business requirements and design/usability standards.

  • Translate functional mock-ups and business objectives into technical specifications by defining and writing clear, precise, Agile user stories.
  • Define, create, and own a backlog of user stories, including release backlog management.
  • Work closely with IT to define requirements and resolve issues using Agile methodologies while ensuring business objectives are being achieved.
  • Work with other business units to translate their requirements and needs into applications.
  • Utilize Quality Assurance best practices to test and accept completed user stories in collaboration with business units.
  • Gain an in-depth understanding of mobile applications architecture and functionality in order to evaluate and communicate what is technically feasible.
  • Lead end-of-iteration demonstrations to display progressive functionality development.
  • Provide briefings/updates on projects – communicate risks, analyze impacts, and make recommendations for requirements changes to stakeholders.
  • Work with external vendors, as required, to ensure 3rd party development meets business requirements.
  • Demonstrate ownership and advocacy for assigned products across the entire life cycle and roadmap.

Job Qualifications

To be successful in this role, an individual must have or be able to quickly develop the following skills, knowledge, and/or experience:

  • Undergraduate degree in relevant field required.
  • 2 years e-commerce experience is required with travel industry/travel sites highly preferred.
  • At least 2 years of experience with product or requirements development for internet based applications is required.
  • High-level understanding of aa.com’s core customer paths, such as Booking, Ticketing, Servicing, etc., is desired.
  • Solid understanding of service-oriented architecture (SOA) to effectively leverage Common Services platform capabilities is desired.
  • Strong technical acumen with a comprehensive understanding of systems business logic and how American’s systems interact with each other (ex: Sabre, ITA and Amadeus platforms, ETDS, common services, etc.) is desired.
  • Prior experience utilizing Real Time Decision Making (RTD) technology on web/mobile platforms to create personalized customer experiences highly desired.
  • Working knowledge of front-end development technologies such as Javascript, HTML, AJAX, etc.

  • At least 2 years of experience applying Agile methodology by writing stories, participating in daily ‘scrums’, backlog grooming and retrospectives, and in using an Agile project management tool, such as Rally, is required.
  • Must be well organized, methodical and pay close attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Possess strong analytical skills.
  • Possess excellent written/oral communication skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software (e.g. Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Able to work with little or no supervision as well as in a team environment.
  • Flexible and adaptable in an evolving environment.
  • Self-motivated and creative problem solver.
  • Level to be determined based on candidate qualifications and experience.
