About The Job

​This job is part of the Safety Team within the Integrated Operations Division. Responsible for ensuring compliance with domestic and international hazardous materials regulations, as pertains to the preparation, offering and shipment of company materials (COMAT) identified as hazardous materials in transportation.   Also, contributes to the safety of company personnel, property, passengers, and any other personnel that may come into contact with or be affected by hazardous COMAT in transport, communicating these requirements through Training Development, Instruction and Compliance.  


Specifically, you’ll do the following:

  • Develops new or revised initial and recurrent hazardous materials training, as well as, ad hoc training that may be required for shipping COMAT per Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) 14CFR, 49 CFR, and International Air Transport Association (IATA)/International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) as well as Federal Motor Carrier Safety (FMCS) Regulations (as required)
  • Conducts hazardous materials training classes at domestic and international stations and provide support to International Supply Management
  • Provides hazardous materials Train-the-Trainer training to Tech Ops. personnel; ensuring that personnel are qualified to conduct the training and are knowledgably on the Hazardous Materials Transportation Departments policy/procedures and CFR and IATA/ICAO regulations 
  • Jointly works with the Hazardous Materials Transportation Department on audit findings, training requirements, policy and procedures changes, regulations changes (14 CFR, 49 CFR, IATA/ICAO, FMCS) to effectively communicate these changes through training curriculum
  • Coordinates and schedules hazardous materials training classes, reserving classroom space, contacting attendees and travel arrangements
  • Works independently with multiple working groups (Tech Ops Management, ACS, Learning Hub) to ensure training is being implemented, and assigned to appropriate employees
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally to provide training (as needed)


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, Aviation Science, or related fields and /or equivalent work experience 
  • 3 years related work experience in Supply Chain, hazardous materials shipping regulations or related field 
  • Experience in Tech Ops Supply shipping operation or related job functions
  • Experience in developing and providing training
  • Hazardous Materials 49 CFR and IATA/ICAO training certificate
  • Presentation skills with the ability to articulate complex requirements to large audiences who possess a wide variety of subject matter expertise
  • Capability to take hazardous materials requirements and synthesize data clearly and concisely into training curriculum
  • Profound knowledge of Microsoft Office to include, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Knowledge of SAP, DECS, AAPICS, and Sceptre Inventory Systems
  • Ability to follow through and complete projects as individual contributor or collaborate as a team member with effective drive for results
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task
  • Understanding of hazardous materials regulations 14 CFR, 49 CFR, IATA/ICAO with work on applying those concepts


Preferred Qualifications

  • Instructional design experience
  • Experience with content development tools such as Captivate or Articulate
  • Knowledge of the Learning Hub Learning Management System administrator and manager functions
