About The Job

American Airlines is seeking a Database Administrator/Sr Database Administrator to work in a DevOps environment using Agile methodologies to solve business problems. The candidate will be working with cutting edge technology in the Cloud and on premise as well as Oracle engineered systems like Exadata, ODA.


Specifically, you’ll do the following:

  • Manage and monitor the databases.
  • Manage and monitor Golden Gate, Exadata and ODA systems.
  • Collaborate with the DBA team on day to day activities. Database object creation, modification etc.
  • Work with the Application development teams and Data Modeling team to design and develop database objects.
  • Work with the Data Architecture team to identify and fix any data issues.
  • Work on data migration or data manipulation
  • Adhere to company's technology standards. 


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering
  • Experience with Oracle 12c, Real Application Cluster (RAC), Engineered Systems – ODA/Exadata, Golden Gate, Enterprise Manager, Dataguard, Database Partitioning, and Advanced Security
  • Familiar with Oracle Automatic Storage Management (ASM) and Oracle Automatic Storage Management Cluster File System (ACFS), Oracle Backup and Recovery administration
  • Ability to do performance tuning and troubleshooting
  • Ability to do Unix shell scripting, PL/SQL, Query Writing, Data manipulation and Movement etc.
  • Experience with very large OLTP system with very high transaction rate.
  • Experience utilizing DevOps principals in an Enterprise environment
  • Open and willing to learn new products/technologies (cloud experience a plus)
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and written with all levels within the organization
  • Ability to explain technical concepts and adjust messaging based on the audience, including non-technical groups
  • Ability to influence through outstanding interpersonal skills, collaboration, and negotiation skills
  • Ability to work well within a team environment, as well as independently
  • Experience in Agile methodologies, such as SCRUM
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Tools (Project, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)


Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of Oracle Database Administrator experience
