Within Revenue Management, each team seeks to maximize passenger revenue for a geographic region within American’s network or acts in a support role to improve management tools, data, or business processes.  Analysts use complex models and tools to monitor passenger demand and changes to the competitive pricing environment. We are looking for team members who will drive innovation and evolution within our business as we adapt to a highly competitive environment.
 
Analysts are charged with developing an in depth understanding of our data, advocating for new ways to use existing data, and creating business cases for new data sources. Analysts are also expected to present original analysis and strategies to senior management, design departmental business processes, analyze the effects of fare and inventory changes on market performance, and work on ad hoc projects related to the airline’s strategic goals. Mastering this job will lead to a thorough understanding of the core economics that drive the airline industry and position the analyst for future opportunities both within Revenue Management and other areas within the airline.
 
The successful candidate will:
  • Identify and make extensive use of statistical analysis, including descriptive, predictive and prescriptive modeling techniques
  • Develop and drive decisional revenue management solutions
  • Forecast or model passenger revenue trends
  • Use data visualization techniques to effectively communicate data insights
  • Monitor effectiveness of revenue initiatives with complex queries, and reporting
  • Drive and coordinate proposals with other departments and present analyses and recommendations to Senior Management
  • Take ownership, prioritize projects, work well with minimal supervision, and manage a number of projects simultaneously

Job Qualifications

  • MSBA degree required
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills required
  • Forecasting or modeling experience required
  • Proficiency with database tools, processes and data manipulation
  • Thorough knowledge of MS Office Suite (i.e., Excel, Access, Word and PowerPoint) is necessary and familiarity SQL and SAS/R/Hadoop or other coding languages helpful
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively present to senior management
  • The ability to make independent judgments and decisions
