The Accountant, Corporate Accounting is responsible for supporting the Company's financial reporting and accounting operations through the preparation and review of journal entries, account reconciliations, SEC reporting activities, and audit documentation. This role manages capital project and intangible asset accounting, ensures compliance with U.S. GAAP and SOX requirements, and partners with internal stakeholders to maintain accurate financial records, support audits, and drive timely resolution of accounting issues.
What you'll do
- Prepare and peer-review monthly journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, supporting schedules, and ad hoc reports to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting policies
- Research and resolve reconciling items, accounting discrepancies, and data variances in a timely manner to maintain the integrity of financial records
- Prepare and provide documentation, including reconciliations, process maps, and supporting schedules, to external auditors and internal SOX compliance teams to support quarterly reviews, annual audits, and SOX testing activities
- Prepare and peer-review applicable sections of external financial statements, footnote disclosures, and supporting documentation for SEC filings in compliance with U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting requirements
- Maintain complete tie-out documentation and evidence of controls to support financial reporting and SOX compliance requirements
- Manage a portfolio of capital projects by partnering with project managers to monitor project status, costs, and completion timelines
- Prepare capitalization packages and related journal entries for assets placed into service in accordance with Company policies and accounting standards
- Maintain detailed records and supporting documentation for capital projects, fixed assets, and related transactions
- Prepare and maintain the monthly intangible asset roll forward, including documentation and analysis of activity impacting intangible asset balances
- Support special projects, process improvement initiatives, and other accounting-related assignments that contribute to departmental and Company objectives

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 2 years of accounting, financial reporting, audit, or related experience
Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
- Experience supporting SEC reporting and financial statement preparation
- Experience working with external auditors and SOX compliance requirements
- Experience accounting for capital projects, fixed assets, or intangible assets
- Experience with large ERP systems and financial reporting tools
- Airline, transportation, or publicly traded company experience
- Experience preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial analyses
- Ability to work independently and within a collaborative team environment
