The Analyst/Sr. Analyst lends a data-driven voice to navigate the base maintenance footprint, with focus on Airbus fleet, and the strategic levers that underpin that base maintenance strategy.  Additionally, the Analyst/Sr. Analyst, evaluates and recommends strategic solutions, resulting in thought-pieces that glean new insights into American’s overall maintenance strategy.  They work broadly within the Maintenance Planning org and greater TechOps team; and as a cross-functional collaborator with teams across the airline.  The role will involve coordination with Finance, Operations Planning & Performance, Network Planning, various TechOps constituents including Base Maintenance and Reliability, Base Production, TechOps Engineering, Supply Chain and other internal/external business partners.

What you'll do

  • Develop and apply a new approach to data analysis in various airline planning contexts.
  • Create analyses to support initiatives tied to operational strategic objectives.
  • Creates consultant-like presentation of findings, telling technical stories to non-technical and/or executive audiences.
  • Collaborates across the various airline planning functions.
  • Other tasks as assigned by the Manager, Base Planning.

All you'll need for success

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or experience in airline planning, operations, analysis or professional services (advisory/management consulting)
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in data analysis and/or database management
  • Tendency to challenge the status quo; “Why?” is a large component of our vocabulary
  • Intellectual curiosity and self-motivation to understand root causes of operational happenings within the business unit 
  • Reliable and dependable
  • Capacity to balance multiple priorities simultaneously while adhering to deadlines

Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Advanced experience with data retrieval tools such as Teradata SQL
  • Advanced experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau and PowerBI
  • Advanced experience with advanced programming language such VBA, R, Python, Alteryx, Java, etc.
  • Effective interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, including presentation skills (development and delivery)

Skills, Licenses & Certifications

  • Ability to demonstrate strong analytical skills
  • Skills in organization and planning
  • Ability to build working relationships with a wide range of peers; excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to concisely present work to Senior Management
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access, etc.
  • Ability to pass all background checks
