  • Responsible for joining the Schedule Analysis and Infrastructure Planning group which plays a central role in the formulation of our long-term infrastructure strategy in collaboration with several teams inside and outside network planning and leverages the power of analytics to ensure our schedules maximize profitability while meeting operational requirements.
  • Responsible for analyzing and developing future network schedules that are designed to maximize American’s profitability, working collaboratively with all groups within the Network Planning and the rest of the Commercial organization.

What you'll do

  • Builds, maintains, and enhances vendor and in-house tools, as well as reports that support the Planning and Scheduling groups, and other stakeholders
  • Gathers business requirements, validating assumptions and methodology, and presenting recommendations to various levels of leadership
  • Coordinate with stakeholders in Network Planning, Operations Research, IT, OPP, Maintenance, Corporate Real Estate IOC, and other key stakeholders to ensure alignment between operational and financial priorities
  • Focuses on forecasting and analysis to support various strategic initiatives in our current forecasting system (IFS), as well as making contributions to developing our next generation forecasting system (NGFS)and fleet assignment model (FAM)
  • Analyzes airline operations through developing, maintaining, and enhancing statistical and business models 
  • Applies analytical modeling and data optimizing methods using advanced MS Excel to develop and interpret information that assists management with decision making, policy formulation, growth evaluations and financial analyses
  • Evaluates the financial impact of changes in block time, Minimum on Ground time (MOGT), Minimum Connect Time (MCT), and other structural inputs in collaboration with Scheduling, Ops Planning & Performance (OPP), Maintenance Planning, and other relevant internal and external teams
  • Develops strategies for reducing congestion at hubs through utilizing alternative fleet deployment techniques or increasing runway utilization
  • Develop schedule KPIs to analyze schedules in order to develop robust schedules that improve connectivity
  • Collaborates with Corporate Real Estate, Financial Planning and others on the development and approval of long term airport infrastructure investment strategies at American's hubs and strategic spokes
  • Develops the documentation, socialization, and maintenance of schedule standards.
  • Facilitates and analyzes schedule adjustments that enable successful execution at hub/station level.
  • Coordinates master calendar of schedule production and capacity forecasts in collaboration with the Network Planning and Scheduling team using tools such as AirVision (Sabre) and Gate Planner

All you'll need for success

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in a business or aviation-related field from an accredited four-year university with an approaching graduation date (December 2022 or May 2023)

 

Skills, Licenses & Certifications

  • Thorough understanding of the airline business, commercial goals and how to translate these into strategic network and fleet plans
  • Proven financial and analytical skills, including ability to logically structure analysis of complex issues and develop creative solutions
  • Flexibility in adapting to new ideas/approaches and business processes
  • Ability to work with cross-functional groups and quickly develop relationships
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to effectively interact with employees at all levels within the organization as well as external contacts
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects on an ongoing basis
  • Advanced Excel skills required
