This role is a critical member of the growing Aviation Recruiting team within the People Division. This organization is responsible for hiring the airline’s core aviation roles and establishing world-class aviation programs that expose youth to the possibilities of these career paths. The position will be a member of the Aviation Recruiting Leadership team and will inform & lead aspects of the strategy and execution of team goals and deliverables to attract the best talent to the company.
What you'll do

- Create and execute a vision for future recruiting strategies, assessing current industry dynamics, to ensure the Flight & IOC operations teams are staffed appropriately to achieve reliability and profitability for American Airlines.
- Lead a team of recruiters and deliver operational talent needs through others, guiding and developing future HR talent
- Elevate the candidate experience throughout the recruiting lifecycle driving a higher yield through the pipeline.
- Tell compelling stories with data by establishing and maintaining metrics of overall staffing performance, including success criteria, assessment and metrics that demonstrate ROI including time to fill, cost per hire, diversity, retention, etc.
- Partner closely with senior leaders across various workgroups, including Flight Ops, dispatchers, additional technical roles, etc. communicating health of their hiring goals and influencing future talent needs
- Manage and maintain strong partnerships with RPO providers and other vendors, focusing on continuous improvement and driving performance accountability
- Analyze trends and metrics in partnership with People Analytics team to proactively understand specific role needs and provide direction and consultation to senior leaders on emerging staffing trends and workforce analytics to ultimately deliver top talent, both for unionized frontline and MSS.
- Leverage current and explore new recruiting technology, vendors and tools required to lead a complex, talent acquisition function.
- Steward the team’s operational budget, identifying opportunities for efficiencies where appropriate
All you'll need for success
Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
- Bachelor's degree in relevant field or equivalent training/experience
- Minimum of 10 years of aviation related experience
- Minimum of 5 years of previous recruiting experience
Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
- 5+ years of pilot recruiting experience, with relevant understanding of the profession
- Knowledge and proven application of recruiting tools and strategies (ex. LinkedIn sourcing)
- Ability to track and report pipeline data of prospective candidates throughout the entire recruiting lifecycle
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and exceptional judgment
- Customer service focused professional with excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Excellent teamwork skills, with proven ability to work effectively in a variety of situations
- Ability to tolerate ambiguity and ability to demonstrate flexibility and judgement under pressure
- Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, Tableau
