- This role will manage a staff responsible for supporting American Airlines' Fuel Operations team.
- The role is a part of the Fuel Supply and Operations team within our Asset Management group.
What you'll do
- Lead strategy and execution for either:
- Fuel Consortium/Storage & M&O focus – manage on- and off-airport storage facilities, maintenance, and operations, ensuring regulatory compliance and cost efficiency.
- Into-Plane Fuel Services focus – oversee into-plane service providers, labor and equipment readiness, and vendor alignment with American’s operational standards.
- Analyze and present operational and financial data to support decision-making; develop and implement negotiation strategies with long-term business impact.
- Negotiate contracts and manage vendors for storage and into-plane fueling services
- Monitor and evaluate fuel service provider performance; collaborate on corrective actions to maintain safe, reliable, and timely fueling of American Airlines aircraft.
- Develop company budget for all fuel service fees in portfolio ; 2) investigate and explain variances versus plan to ensure Fuel Finance can explain to senior management; 3) work with accounting / Fuel Finance to validate invoices and ensure proper authorization for consortium / into plane contracts; 4) manage inter-company issues/billing/cost allocations to ensure the best interest of the company are achieved
- Contribute cross-functionally to support corporate/group objectives
- Manage Fuel Management relationship with Maintenance/Tech Ops/Accounting/Airports to ensure uniform and appropriate adherence to fuel quality, safety standards, and all fuel related processes, including Fuel Administration input into FAA Fuel Manual & Departure Control Manual.
- Prepare reporting and presentations for leadership, internal stakeholders, and industry groups.
- Represent American Airlines in industry trade organizations and airline fuel consortia, serving as subject matter expert on regulatory and operational matters.
- Support development of business cases that prioritize operational opportunities and improvement projects.
- Coordinate across American and external stakeholders to mitigate the impact of fuel supply disruptions.
All you'll need for success
Minimum Qualifications - Education & Prior Job Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, Operations, or Accounting, or other related field
- Five or more years of work experience in relevant field
Preferred Qualifications - Education & Prior Job Experience
- MBA or other Graduate degree in previously noted field
- Manager experience
Skills, Licenses & Certifications

- Ability to understand and manage complex processes
- Proficient with Microsoft Office software (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
