What you'll do

  • Provide prompt, effective, and informed support on Pilot labor-related issues to management within multiple corporate departments.
  • Negotiate, implement, interpret, and administer the Pilot Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • Manage disputes and work collaboratively with union representatives to arrive at appropriate resolutions. 
  • Provide support for grievance handling up to and including participation in System Board arbitrations.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with Union counterparts.
  • Research and resolve escalated issues arising from contract interpretation and operational areas requiring coordination with other departments.
  • Provide input to strategic decisions that affect all functional areas of responsibility and overall labor strategy.
  • Evaluate and track labor processes and assess for continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Guidance and coordination of related management activities in support of American Airline’s purpose “To care for people on life’s journey.”
  • Travel as needed to build and maintain relationships with the operational teams and to investigate and adjudicate grievances and/or disciplinary matters.

All you'll need for success

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Labor Relations, Employee Relations, Industrial Relations, Political Science, Human Resources Management, or related field or equivalent experience/training.
  • 5 years’ experience in Labor Relations, operational management of unionized employees, or HR.
  • 2 years in a supervisory/management position.
  • Experience or formal training in early dispute resolution strategy.

Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Previous contract administration and negotiation experience.
  • Advanced degree in Labor Relations, Employee Relations, Industrial Relations, Internal Relations, Political Science, Human Resources Management, or related field.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to effectively interact with employees at all levels.
  • Ability to quickly respond to change and communicate new directions to client groups.
  • Independent thinking, strategic analysis, ownership of responsibilities, and ability to anticipate next steps.
