  • This job is a member of the Crew Scheduling Team within the Integrated Operations Division​.
  • Responsible for directing and managing the Crew Schedule operation on a real-time, 24/7 basis.

What you'll do

  • Oversees the open time trip coverage process for both Pilots and Flight Attendants for all American Airlines flights
  • Ensures the correct and uniform application of all Federal Air Regulations, labor agreements and company policies
  • Coordinates extensively with the scheduling team, Flight, Flight Service, Dispatch, Crew Planning and Crew Resources in the operation of the airline
  • Prepares morning briefing and attends daily staff meeting in the IOC
  • Makes real-time analytically sound decisions in a stressful, changing environment
  • Maintains quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards
  • Supervises, leads, and guides team of Coordinators and Trackers
  • Leads the ongoing and annual talent conversations/development, performance management, coaching and counseling, and recruiting
  • Coaches and counsels employees to correct and improve performance
  • Motivates team for continual improvement in process and internal customer experience
  • Ability to work shifts, including weekends and holidays. Ability to work rotating shifts (AM’s, PM’s and MID’s) as required.  Ability to work overtime as required, sometimes with little or no advance notice

All you'll need for success

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • High School diploma or GED equivalency
  • Previous experience working with organized labor groups
  • Hands on experience with the Flight Operating System (FOS), Ascent, OUTLOOK, Screen Printer, OCM
  • 3 years Crew Scheduling experience

 

Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • ​Previous supervisory experience
     

Skills, Licenses & Certifications

  • Knowledge of the APA and APFA working agreements and Federal Air Regulations
  • ​Knowledge of Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment in making decisions based on information gathered/reviewed
  • Ability to be flexible and capable of adapting to constant change
  • Ability to work with all levels of management and union groups
  • Cognitive skills to read and understand numbers and letters, and the ability to apply that knowledge
  • Ability to prepare written and verbal turnovers
  • Ability to learn computer systems and applications and apply knowledge
  • Ability to prioritize tasks
  • Ability to  handle multiple tasks concurrently
  • Ability to work well under pressure and deadlines
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Must report to work on a regular and timely basis
  • Ability to manually complete duties in the event of computer and system outages
  • Ability to speak clearly over the telephone and radio, and be understood by crewmembers regarding contractual and FAR limits, and assignments
  • Ability to memorize computer entry codes and city codes
  • Ability to understand the 24-hour clock and worldwide time zones in daily conversations with crewmembers
  • Ability to read, understand and comprehend the flight attendant or pilot labor agreements
  • Must pass a background reference check and criminal fingerprint check
  • Strong managerial and interpersonal skills
