Why you'll love this job

  • As a Procurement Excellence Analyst at American Airlines, you will be instrumental in transforming our procurement operations. This role demands a visionary with experience in source-to-pay process, and a strategic approach to procurement.

Management will modify the job or require other tasks be performed whenever it is deemed appropriate to do so, observing, of course, any legal obligations including any collective bargaining obligations.

  • Lead and manage end‑to‑end procurement initiatives, including creation of detailed action plans, timelines, milestones, and delivery plans to ensure work is completed on time and within scope.
  • Own project governance activities such as status reporting, risk, issue, and dependency tracking, and escalation management to ensure transparency and accountability.
  • Orchestrate cross‑functional design discussions and key decision‑making forums to align stakeholders on requirements, tradeoffs, and implementation approaches.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives by coordinating process design, solution evaluation, and execution across Procurement and Source‑to‑Pay teams.
  • Partner closely with cross‑functional teams to ensure procurement initiatives are aligned to broader business priorities and operational objectives.
  • Support the development and execution of the long‑term Procurement operating model, including reporting, tooling, and process evolution, through structured project delivery.
  • Provide project management support for procurement best practices and emerging technologies across the Source‑to‑Pay lifecycle.
  • Develop and promote standardized procurement practices by leading alignment workshops, documenting decisions, and supporting adoption across the organization.
  • Deliver executive‑ready updates that clearly communicate progress, risks, decisions needed, and next steps for procurement initiatives.
  • Proactively identify and address execution gaps, stepping in to support tactical or operational needs based on the mix of projects in flight and team capacity at any given time.
