About The Job

American Airlines Group Inc. is seeking a Labor Attorney to join the in-house legal team based in Dallas, Texas. As a Senior Attorney-Labor Law, you will work directly with Labor Relations, Human Resources, and leadership and will be responsible for providing counsel and legal advice on labor law matters that arise from the day-to-day operations of American Airlines, Inc.   You will be responsible handling, managing and supporting matters such as grievances, arbitration hearings, lawsuits, and labor negotiations.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

 

  • Provide legal advice and counsel to the Human Resources Department and management on a variety of employment-related issues including, but not limited to Title VII, the ADA, FMLA, wage and hour issues, and state and local employment laws.
  • Provide solutions and assist with the implementation of solutions to business issues while reducing litigation risk.
  • Provide support to Human Resources and management in investigations.
  • Respond to, and resolve, employment-related charges filed with federal and state agencies such as the EEOC and DOL.
  • Identify and analyze legal issues and provide guidance regarding same.
  • Perform legal research.
  • Manage employment litigation including participation in mediation and settlement conferences.
  • Provide comprehensive reports regarding legal issues and litigation matters.
  • Develop and conduct training on legal issues
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Membership in good standing in the Bar of at least one state.
  • At least 6 years of employment law experience with a law firm and/or corporate in-house legal department. 
  • Experience in employment litigation and counseling employers on legal issues relating to employment matters including but not limited to Title VII, the ADA, FML and wage and hour issues.
  • Ability to develop strategies for litigation and other types of employment-related matters.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize numerous matters simultaneously.
  • Outstanding academic credentials.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Appear for work on a regular and predictable basis in accordance with department policy.
  • Physical ability necessary to safely and successfully perform the essential functions of the position, with or without any legally required reasonable accommodations that do not pose an undue hardship.
