The Undergraduate Intern position is a developmental assignment that provides interns with real-time work projects, leadership development opportunities, as well as involvement in corporate social responsibility. Work projects involve assignments that are relevant to American’s current business needs and opportunities. Interns are afforded travel privileges enabling them to connect to the international and domestic destinations that American Airlines serves.

Job Description

Allow your dreams to take flight with an exciting internship at the largest airline in the world. American Airlines is offering several six-month internships in areas throughout Flight and Flight Training, giving you a behind the scenes perspective of airline operations. Duties will vary, but most are pilot-centric and will be a valuable experience for anyone pursuing a career as an airline pilot.  This internship will be located at either our Flight Academy in DFW or one of our 10 pilot bases across the country (BOS, CLT, DCA, LGA/JFK, ORD, MIA, DFW, PHL, PHX, LAX). Full-time students pursuing a degree in Professional Pilot, Airport Management, Air Traffic Management, Safety Management Systems, Operations Management, Aerospace Engineering, Air Transportation and Aviation Business Management with a private pilot certificate are encouraged to apply.

Job Qualifications
  • Full-time student enrolled in a flight related program
  • Junior or Senior Status (candidates pursuing advanced degrees will be considered)
  • Minimum 3.0 overall GPA
  • Working knowledge of Word, Excel and Power point
  • Private pilot certification required
  • Commercial pilot certification preferred
  • U.S. citizen or alien with legal right to accept employment in the U.S.
