• The American mobile app has over 40M downloads and the team is growing. With our hyper-growth we are looking for a manager to lead a highly technical mobile application delivery team in support of American’s business initiatives.  This role will ensure the success of the multiple squads reporting to them. These squads work on feature enhancements that have been prioritized by the business for optimum customer engagement. These new features drive increased revenue, improve operational efficiencies, build loyalty, and close competitive gaps. You will mentor, coach, and motivate employees. You will remove any road blocks to delivery and keep the business apprised of project status and any delays.

What you'll do

• Direct large technology projects from inception through entire SDLC in an enterprise environment.
• Collaborates with Business and IT leadership to determine and communicate organization vision, direction, and work priorities, and drives progress towards technology target roadmaps
• Ensures that sound agile project management, business analysis, and quality assurance processes are in place and practiced
• Creates environment for delivery teams to be self-governing organizations who are accountable for their own performance and delivery commitments
• Exhibits a desire for continuous learning and sharing of new knowledge within the organization
• Removes roadblocks, cultivates relationships, and effectively communicates across Enterprise at various levels of leadership
• Create and maintain budget costs within the approved budget, per stated goals and phases of the product.
• Manages and leads adoption and migration of new and emerging technologies
• Leads, develops, and mentors a high performing team of individuals with a diverse range of skills and experiences
• Maintains an effective approach on problem solving, multi-tasking, coordinating and scheduling
• Leads, influences, and upholds technology standards and goals to ensure visibility and predictability
• Manage and develop releases on multiple platforms to ensure that all code released to production systems meet or exceed pre-defined quality standards.
• Maintain mobile application operations worldwide, monitoring, and 24x7 coverage on call, and system health.
• Manages production issues and off-hours support, communication, and coordination, as needed
• Works extended hours occasionally, based on the needs of the project and the operation
• Travels, as required


All you'll need for success

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business (or equivalent work experience)
• 7 years of experience overseeing large technology projects from inception in an enterprise environment


Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

• Airline industry experience, including business process and supporting technology


Skills, Licenses & Certifications

• Strong leadership skills and proven ability to communicate and collaborate with different audiences
• Ability to effectively lead under potentially high stress and challenging situations
• Delegate responsibilities effectively
• Demonstrated initiative, flexibility and ability to adapt to changing priorities and work environments
• Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative management style
• Experience in managing ‘mission-critical’ projects/migrations
• Working knowledge and experience in technology environment (desktop computing, hardware and operating systems, networks, telecommunications etc.)
• Management or other related field or equivalent work experience
• Experience with airline business processes and supporting technology preferred
• BA/PM/Scrum master experience preferred
• Agile experience
• Budgeting
