About The Job

A highly visible supply chain role that will provide project management from an inventory perspective of aircraft requirements introduced for the American Airlines Technical Operation. This is a hands-on position responsible for developing and executing Demand and Inventory Plans that will ensure the success of American Airlines, FAA mandated, and other recommended reliability projects. The project manager will ensure that mandatory or company imposed deadlines are achieved through collaboration with other departments, proper planning and execution of project management plans.

 

Specifically, you’ll do the following:

The primary role of the Project Manager is to manage the successful implementation of aircraft maintenance projects. This is accomplished through the effective management of inventory, schedule and budget of predefined requirements.

  • Ensure materials are readily available in designated locations to meet project requirements
  • Responsible for ensuring that assigned maintenance projects are completed within the defined time frames
  • Review demand forecasts with project stakeholders; maintenance schedules with line/base maintenance planning team
  • Communicate with key stakeholders throughout the organization, providing presentations for a variety of topics related to the projects
  • Establish supply schedules and communicate requirements to other members of Technical Operations Supply Chain

  • Control costs and minimize unnecessary stock
  • Accountable for verifying that all assigned mandatory AA and FAA requirements are effectively resourced so as to prevent the unnecessary grounding of aircraft due to time constraints
  • Collaboration with other departments such as engineering, marketing and customer support is paramount to achieve project objectives
  • Assist with the management of defined processes and procedures to ensure that efficient lines of communication exist within the Technical Operations’ group so that it enhances our ability to complete maintenance projects ahead of schedule
  • Provide regular reports on the progress of projects within the enterprise as well as critical measures necessary to show the effectiveness of our project management practices
  • Metric need to clearly identify accountabilities and shortfalls in the system
  • Perform ad-hoc analysis to validate the effectiveness of the project planning organization and report to senior management

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Planning, Project Management or equivalent work experience
  • Proven Project Management skills, experience managing scope, schedule and budgets in a project environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Quantitative, analytical and problem resolution ability with a high degree of motivation
  • Ability to create formulas and to analyze data is required
  • Ability to think “outside the box”
  • Strong people management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks while dealing with disruptions and change
  • Proficient in MS Office applications including: Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Must be able to fulfill FAA criminal background checks for Airport Security Identification Display Areas (SIDA) Badge requirement

 

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • PMI Certification a plus
  • 1-3 years’ experience in a Project Manager or Planner capacity.
  • Aircraft Industry experience
