The Specialist/Sr Specialist, Employee Engagement & Recognition is a part of the Team Member Engagement team within our Global Engagement Division. This role will use innovative and creative approaches to continue building a culture of engagement and recognition at American. The ideal team member will be a person who has vast experience in executing and implementing industry leading employee recognition programs.
What you'll do

- Oversee the Circle of Excellence program lifecycle, from annual planning and nomination tracking to coordinating panel selections and leader approvals.
- Drive strategic enhancements and integrations for recognition programs, including logistics, implementation, and ongoing maintenance.
- Support and maintain departmental recognition programs, such as Safety Champions and Excellence in Aviation, ensuring alignment with organizational values.
- Develop and execute a recognition education strategy, including awareness plans and tailored resources for leaders, new hires, and targeted employee groups.
- Design and implement the new award program strategy, including process development and rollout plans.
- Lead the strategy and execution for digital recognition tools, including eCards and the Nonstop Thanks program, with ongoing budget and correspondence management.
- Utilize industry research and internal analytics to inform program improvements, leader guidance, and recognition best practices, incorporating insights from vendors and other expert sources.
- Lead the implementation and change management plan for the platform upgrade, focusing on business-side processes in collaboration with IT.
- Manage and optimize weekly and monthly data feeds across recognition platforms, ensuring accuracy, alignment, and effective issue resolution with cross-functional teams.
- Serve as the subject matter expert for communications platforms and the employee intranet, providing guidance and strategic insights across recognition initiatives.
- Drive the research, development, and integration of Artificial Intelligence technologies to enhance recognition strategies and processes.

Minimum Qualifications – Education & Prior Job Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or equivalent experience / training
- 3+ years relevant work experience
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
Preferred Qualifications – Education & Prior Job Experience
- 5+ years of relevant work experience
