- This job is a member of the SMS team within the Safety & Regulatory Compliance department.
- Responsible for providing support to the Airports and Technical Operations departments to ensure the risk management processes comply with SMS Part 5 FAA regulations and American Airlines SMS policies and procedures.
What you'll do
- Facilitates the completion of Risk Management Worksheets to support the safety management process within the Ground SMS (Airports and Technical Operations).
- Reviews Risk Management Worksheets for quality and compliance.
- Prepares and delivers clear, professional presentations to monthly Safety Working Groups, effectively communicating safety data, program updates, operational changes, and key performance insights.
- Ensure Safety Working Group meeting outcomes are documented and that action items are tracked to resolution.
- Collaborates with other policy & procedures departments to ensure new or revised policies & procedures are captured in the K2 Risk Management Worksheet (RMW).
- Facilitates FAA regulatory correspondence and investigations
All you'll need for success
Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience/training
- Experience in change management
- Knowledge of FAA and ICAO standards with regards to SMS
- Experience in roles requiring interaction and effective communication across all levels of
leadership
Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
- Prior experience in Airports or Technical Operations functions
Skills, Licenses & Certifications
- SMS training certificates preferred but not required
- Ability to facilitate projects and teams
- Excellent problem solving/logic skills
- Critical thinker, organized, self-motivated and a natural ability to prioritize requests from many different stakeholders
- Ability to multi-task
- Ability to follow through and complete projects as individual contributor or collaborate as a team member
- Ability to analyze large volumes of technical information and synthesize data clearly and concisely
- Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills in combination with the ability to frame solutions strategically and creatively
- Ability to interface with customer-facing employees, all levels of management, FAA, vendors and labor unions
- Intermediate level in Microsoft Office Suite software to include MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
