The job is a member of the Canadian team within the International Division. This position will be responsible to support the General Manager/Airport Services Manager and the Lead Agents as well as the International Security Coordinaor in delivering a safe and first class airport experience to our customers.

You will be expected to have an understanding of all areas of customer service and security and to work flexibly across all functions in both areas. On a day to day basis, you will report into and take instruction from the Lead Agent(s)/Airport Services Manager in customer service and security.

What you'll do

- Serves customers in a courteous, efficient, friendly, and professional manner providing exemplary customer service

- Promotes and sells air travel to the traveling public

- Performs all aspects of airport customer service transactions including check-in, ticketing, gates, and baggage service 

- Makes announcements on public address system to communicate to passengers

- Interprets government rules and requirements for domestic and international travel

- Meets and dispatches aircraft within established times

-  Provides assistance to distressed passengers and customers

- Protects company property and revenue

- Provides for safe travel

- Possesses the physical ability and dexterity to use motor skills to perform various job-related tasks including passenger mobility assistance

- Uses organizational skills to perform multiple tasks within a limited time period

- Is self-motivated and requires minimal supervision

-  Responds and assists during security and emergency situations

- Follows internal/external policies and procedures

-  May be required to operate and position jetbridges in order to enplane and deplane passengers
 

All you'll need for success

- High School diploma or GED

- Applicable valid driver’s license as required by local authorities

- Work rotating shifts including weekends, holidays and days off

- Bilingual in French & English for positions in Quebec

- Public contact experience preferred

- Read, write, fluently speak and understand the English language

- Work overtime on short notice in emergencies or when operationally necessary

- Must fulfill Transport Canada criminal background checks to qualify for unescorted access privileges to airport security identification display areas (SIDA)

- Must be able to secure appropriate airport authority restricted area pass

- Handle multiple tasks simultaneously

- Must report to work on a regular and timely basis

- Must possess the legal right to work in Canada

Essential Job Functions

- Must be able to safely perform the following functions under sometimes stressful conditions beyond the employee’s control while attempting to influence a favorable impression of American Airlines, e.g., off-schedule operations (OSO) caused by inclement weather or mechanical malfunctions

- Cognitive skills to perform basic functions

- Report to work on a regular and timely basis

- Work in and/or around variable weather conditions, jet engine fumes, vehicle emissions, dust and jet engine noise

- Stand for extended periods of time

- Manually handle items of a variety of shapes and sizes while stocking ticket counter, gate area, and storage area and change stock of automated printers. May be required to stand on step stools or ladders in order to remove and/or place items in cabinets 

- Lift 32 kilograms

- May be required to handle items containing small quantities of approved dangerous goods

- Enter customer data into a computerized reservations system.  Read and verify relevant information and print documents

- Change stock of automated printers

- Ensure printers are cleared and distribute all messages.
